Gage R&R / MSA Study Software
Two inspectors measure the same part on a gage that passed its calibration last month and log two different numbers, and only a properly run repeatability and reproducibility study says whether that gap is the gage, the operator, or the part. Kissflow structures the study and calculates percent GRR automatically.

A structured study that tells you whether the gap is the gage, the operator, or the part
Two inspectors measure the same part on a gage that passed its calibration last month and log two different numbers. Calibration confirms the gage reads accurately against a standard, but it says nothing about whether the measurement system as a whole, the gage, the operator, and the method together, produces consistent results across people and repeat readings.
A Gage R&R study answers that question, but only if it's set up correctly: the right number of appraisers, parts, and trials, blind measurements so an inspector can't anchor to a prior reading, and a correct statistical calculation behind the result. Run informally on a shared spreadsheet, with appraisers comparing notes between trials, the study produces a number that looks official and proves nothing.
Kissflow structures the study from setup through disposition: appraisers, parts, and trial counts are configured against a valid design before anything starts, the collection itself runs blind, and percent GRR and number of distinct categories calculate automatically. The measurement system is certified or flagged for corrective action based on that result, with a re-study scheduled automatically when it fails.
An MSA study run informally answers a question nobody can trust the answer to
Studies get set up inconsistently
The number of appraisers, parts, or trials varies study to study, with no standard template enforcing a valid design.
Data collection isn't blind
An appraiser can see their own or another's prior reading, which biases the repeatability and reproducibility result.
Calculations happen in a spreadsheet someone built once
Percent GRR gets calculated in a spreadsheet formula nobody's fully sure is still correct.
Failed studies don't trigger action
A measurement system that fails its GRR threshold keeps getting used because nothing routes the failure into a corrective action.
Three modules. Configurable to your operating model.
Every module ships with default forms, approval logic, integrations, and dashboards. Configure each one to your operating model in the visual builder.
Study setup
Configures the appraisers, parts, and trial count for a valid study design, before data collection starts.
Blind data collection
Collects measurement data from each appraiser and trial, structured to prevent bias from prior readings.
Statistical calculation & disposition
Calculates percent GRR and number of distinct categories automatically, and certifies or flags the measurement system based on the result.
From request to system of record in four steps
Initiate
A Gage R&R study is scheduled for a gage and process, with appraisers, parts, and trials configured.
Conduct
Each appraiser measures each part across the configured trials, without visibility into other readings.
Flag
Percent GRR, repeatability, and reproducibility are calculated automatically, and a failing system routes to corrective action with a re-study scheduled.
Record
A passing system is certified, and the study results and disposition are stored as the measurement system's record.
What changes when Gage R&R and MSA studies run on Kissflow
| Process | Before Kissflow | On Kissflow |
|---|---|---|
| Study design | Varies by whoever sets it up | A standard template enforces a valid appraiser, part, and trial count |
| Data collection | Not blind, biased by visible prior readings | Structured so appraisers can't see other readings |
| Calculation | A spreadsheet formula of uncertain accuracy | Percent GRR and distinct categories calculated automatically |
| Failed studies | Don't trigger any action | Route into a corrective action with a re-study scheduled |
| Certification | Informal, undocumented | Recorded certification of the measurement system, pass or fail |
| History | No record of prior study results | Full study history per gage and process, tracked over time |
Connects to the quality systems that hold your gage register and process records

Built for a study that answers the question with a valid design
A valid study design, every time
The template enforces the appraiser, part, and trial counts a study actually needs to be statistically valid.
Genuinely blind data collection
Appraisers can't see prior readings, which is where most informal studies quietly lose validity.
Percent GRR calculated automatically
No spreadsheet of uncertain accuracy. The statistics calculate the same way every time.
Failed studies route to action, not to being ignored
A measurement system that fails its threshold triggers a corrective action and a re-study, not a shrug.
Live in weeks, not a re-implementation
Configure study templates and thresholds in the visual builder without a statistics platform to learn.
Linked to the gage it studies
Every study ties back to the specific gage and process it validated, building a history over time.

Get SupportCalibration confirms a gage reads accurately against a reference standard. A Gage R&R study confirms the whole measurement system, gage, operator, and method together, produces consistent results. A gage can pass calibration and still fail a Gage R&R study.
Thresholds are configurable to your standard, commonly under ten percent is excellent, under thirty percent is often acceptable depending on the application, and above that typically requires corrective action.
The template defaults to common AIAG guidance, typically three appraisers, ten parts, and two or three trials, and is configurable to your own methodology.
It routes into a corrective action, investigate the gage, the operator training, or the method, with a re-study scheduled once the fix is in place.
Yes. Quality engineers configure study templates, thresholds, and corrective action routing in the visual builder, and the AI Builder can generate a working app from a plain-language description.
Through APIs and integration connectors, under single sign-on and role-based access, with every action written to an audit log.
Configuration and AI generation move delivery from weeks to days, without a multi-year platform program or an engineering backlog.
