First Article Inspection Software

The first part off a new tool has to prove every characteristic on the drawing before part two runs, and an AS9102 form filled out from memory does not hold up in a customer audit. Kissflow schedules the inspection, records every measurement, and generates the disposition before production moves on.

Every characteristic on the drawing measured and dispositioned before the second part runs

The first part off a new tool, a new process, or after a significant change has to prove every characteristic on the drawing, dimensional, material, functional, before production runs past part one. AS9102 forms exist to document exactly that, but filled out from memory after the fact, or reconstructed for a customer audit, they don't hold up.

The pressure to skip ahead is real: a tool is qualified, the schedule is tight, and running part two before the first article is dispositioned feels like a rounding error until a characteristic that was never measured turns up wrong three hundred parts later. First article inspection only does its job if every characteristic gets measured against its own requirement, not summarized as a single pass or fail.

Kissflow structures the first article inspection from scheduling through disposition: an inspection template holds every characteristic that needs measuring, built from the drawing itself, each one is recorded with the actual reading, a non-conformance raises automatically for anything out of spec and holds the part, and the completed record generates in the AS9102 Form 1, 2, 3 structure your customer expects.

A first article inspection reconstructed after the fact is not a first article inspection

Characteristics get missed

Without a template tied to the drawing, an inspector measures what they remember to check, not necessarily everything the drawing requires.

Records get built after production has already moved on

The FAI paperwork gets assembled from memory once a customer or auditor asks for it, well after part two has already run.

Non-conformances don't stop anything

A characteristic measures out of spec and production keeps running because there's no automatic hold tied to the finding.

Reports don't match customer format

The completed inspection doesn't map cleanly to the AS9102 form structure a customer expects to receive.

Six modules. Configurable to your operating model.

Every module ships with default forms, approval logic, integrations, and dashboards. Configure each one to your operating model in the visual builder.

Inspection scheduling & templates

Builds a reusable inspection template from the drawing's characteristics, ready to assign whenever a first article is due.

Inspector assignment

Assigns the inspection to a qualified inspector and tracks it as an open task until every characteristic clears.

Measurement recording

Records the actual measurement for every characteristic against its drawing requirement, not just a pass or fail checkbox.

Pass/fail disposition

Dispositions each characteristic and the part overall, based on the recorded measurements against tolerance.

Non-conformance raise

Raises a non-conformance automatically for any characteristic that measures out of spec, holding the part.

AS9102 report generation

Generates the completed inspection in the AS9102 Form 1, 2, 3 structure, ready for customer submission.

From request to system of record in four steps

Initiate

Initiate

A first article inspection is scheduled against a template built from the part's drawing characteristics.

Conduct

Conduct

Every characteristic is measured and recorded against its own drawing requirement, not summarized as one result.

Flag

Flag

Each characteristic and the part overall are dispositioned as pass or fail, and a failed characteristic raises a non-conformance and holds the part.

Record

Record

The AS9102 report generates for submission and the results are retained as the inspection record before production moves on.

Built to prove the first part before the second one runs

Templates built from the actual drawing

Every characteristic on the drawing is on the inspection template, so nothing gets measured from memory.

Non-conformances that actually hold the part

A failed characteristic raises a non-conformance and stops the part moving forward automatically.

AS9102 format, generated, not assembled

The completed inspection maps directly to Form 1, 2, 3 structure, ready to submit.

Every measurement recorded, not just pass or fail

The actual reading against tolerance is on record for every characteristic, not a checkbox.

Live in weeks, not a re-implementation

Configure inspection templates and disposition rules in the visual builder without a quality platform overhaul.

One dashboard across every first article

See every scheduled, in-progress, and completed first article inspection across the plant.

AS9102 is the built-in default given the aerospace naming, and the template structure is configurable to other first article formats, including AIAG-style approaches used elsewhere in manufacturing.

A new part, a new tool, a process change, a supplier change, or a customer requirement, whatever your quality plan defines as an FAI trigger.

It holds the specific part and characteristic in question and routes into your non-conformance process. Whether it stops the broader run is a disposition decision your team makes from there.

First article inspection verifies every characteristic on the drawing for the first piece off a new or changed process, a full-drawing verification, not the sampling plan used in routine in-process checks.

Yes. Quality engineers configure inspection templates, disposition rules, and report structure in the visual builder, and the AI Builder can generate a working app from a plain-language description.

Through APIs and integration connectors, under single sign-on and role-based access, with every action written to an audit log.

Configuration and AI generation move delivery from weeks to days, without a multi-year platform program or an engineering backlog.

Kissflow is certified to SOC 1, SOC 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA, hosted on Google Cloud with data residency in the US, EU, APAC, and Oceania.
