Launch governance is the program risk nobody prices

4 of 5 — Closure, not authorship

Four of the five most-cited IATF major findings are about actions that were never closed out. Source: IAOB nonconformance database across 19 certification bodies, 2025 AIAG Quality Summit.

Mar 2024 — The standard moved to your layer

AIAG rebuilt APQP around gated management, program metrics and sourcing risk, and split out the control plan. Source: AIAG APQP 3rd Edition and Control Plan 1st Edition, published 1 March 2024.

The market prices a slip

Product delay announcements cut average shareholder value by about 12 percent.

Schedules overrun by default

The average development project exceeds its planned schedule by 120 percent.

No margin for an escape

Ford and GM ran warranty claims above 3 percent of product sales through late 2025.

Sub-tier proof is contractual

Ford requires documented evidence your Tier 2s follow APQP, and they have no login.

Launch governance runs on a spreadsheet and a Thursday call. Three truths every launch manager already knows

Truth 1 — Your PLM holds the design, not the gate

Teamcenter is authoritative about the part and completely silent about whether Gate 3 can close on Friday.

Truth 2 — Open issue 37 belongs to nobody

The issues list lives in a workbook four people edit, one person circulates, and no system escalates when a date passes.

Truth 3 — The status report is built by hand

Your launch manager rebuilds the customer's deck every week instead of clearing the issues the deck reports.

    Launch and supplier quality questions

    Book a Demo

Your PLM holds the design and your QMS holds the record. Neither one runs the gate review, chases the sub-tier readiness evidence, or assembles the status report your launch manager rebuilds every week. Kissflow runs those steps and records the decisions.

No. PPAP is the AIAG submission package and the output of APQP phase four. Process performance qualification is the name Stellantis gave its supplier gate in the harmonised 2022 regime. The evidence overlaps, the structure and timing do not. The process qualification page covers that gate in full.

No. Kissflow authors nothing. It does not create or calculate FMEAs, control plans, measurement systems analysis studies or capability studies, all of which stay with the tools that own them. It governs the program that moves between them.

A first governed gate review runs on a live program in 30 to 60 days, and the customer-specific variant your next award demands is a configuration change rather than a project.

Software is never certified against IATF 16949. Organisations are. What this does is make the documented information the standard asks for available on demand, including the evidence of closure and of updated documentation that certification bodies write up most often.

Pricing scales with the number of users rather than the number of programs, including the sub-tier suppliers who contribute readiness evidence. A 30-minute conversation with a manufacturing specialist gives you a firm number.
