One of our Finance Leads said, ‘This is so easy, even my mom could do this. It was extremely intuitive and straightforward.’ The watermark was, 'I don't need to call IT to do this. I can do it myself.

Priestly Demolition, Inc.
Focused on high standards in quality workmanship and customer service, Priestly Demolition Inc. (PDI) thrives as one of the leading demolition contractors across the United States and Canada.

Andrea Diamond
Interim IT Manager
"We don't have a large IT department. There's just two of us and we manage most things in house. So, Kissflow is great because we are able to do more than we thought we could."

Challenges faced
Priestly Demolition started with several serious barriers to automation.
-
Heavy reliance on paper forms. Many of their construction, transportation, and demolition operations had been run with paper forms for decades.
-
Limited IT resources. Priestly has no in-house development team to develop custom applications. Everything was reliant on third-party developers or point-solution vendors.
-
Audit trails and compliance mandates. Their industry is highly regulated and requires a solution that adheres to stringent safety and compliance ordinances.
The consistent journey to digital transformation
Priestly Demolition has been using Kissflow since 2018. Andrea Diamond is the Interim IT Manager. Andrea is a software developer by background, but with a team of just two, it’s not possible for her to build everything the company needs.
When she and her small team first evaluated how to use Kissflow, their primary goal was to automate the numerous paper-based processes slowing down their operations. They currently have more than 30 custom applications deployed on Kissflow, and each one delivers a unique benefit.
Use case: Onboarding and Offboarding
Benefit: Accurate reporting
Every time someone joins the company, the IT team ensures that they get the right software licenses. Similarly, when someone exits, they must ensure that access is revoked. Beyond just streamlining tasks, the process keeps exact audit trails. When compliance asks for proof of an action, they can quickly show specific, verified actions.
Use case: Visitor Management
Benefit: Building a better tool for less
The team recently finished building a kiosk-based external portal for their visitor management. They had been paying a lot for a market solution, but it had more features than they needed and was a considerable cost. They built their own custom solution and immediately saved money after canceling the market solution.
Use case: Truck delivery and pickup tickets
Benefit: Eliminating paper forms
One of their most successful implementations has been the digitization of truck delivery and pickup tickets. This seemingly simple transformation has eliminated the need for paper tickets and created a more efficient system for tracking deliveries and pickups across job sites.
Use case: Field Level Hazards
Benefit: Safety compliance
Safety is a big concern in demolition. The safety team must fill out incident reports and keep records of hazards of all kinds. The team has more than five dedicated workflows for reporting. The safety team is often audited, and they use Kissflow’s reporting and notifications to stay compliant.
Use case: Project Management
Benefit: Master data management
Andrea’s team uses Kissflow to create jobs and manage projects. As jobs are created and awarded, they are tracked inside Kissflow, and the project data also goes into other systems.
Measuring ROI
Priestly Demolition has three ways of showing the return on investment by using Kissflow.
- Safety and Audit compliance
The Safety team at Priestly Demolition is critical to its success. To win and retain many contracts, they must maintain a Total Recordable Injury Frequency (TRIF) of 2.0 or less. They also must maintain a safety Certificate of Recognition (COR) to stay compliant and win contracts.
The Safety team uses Kissflow to process data related to TRIF and audit evidence to maintain its COR. Incorrect or unverifiable information could result in lost contracts and fines of up to $2 million.
- Replacing expensive off-the-shelf technology
By building their own visitor management application, they were able to reduce their technology spend by $4,000 CAD annually. They can similarly target other point solutions to help reduce the spend.
- Cost to build
Where there aren’t any off-the-shelf solutions, Priestly Demolition would have to either outsource the development of these apps or hire developers. Small applications generally start at around $20,000 and quickly scale from there. With the help of Kissflow’s support team, Priestly’s small IT team can avoid these costs altogether.
- Productivity
Priestly Demolition uses Kissflow to automate its Trucking Tickets which have many roles, including driver, dispatch, PMO support, and payroll. They process about 580 tickets monthly and estimate a 12-minute savings per ticket. This results in an annual saving of more than 1,400 hours with a financial impact of nearly $30,000.
Kissflow’s five-minute support
Andrea said apart from the technology, Kissflow’s support stands out amongst all of their other vendors. “Everyone is super polite and gets back to us immediately with a solution. We rarely have to wait more than five minutes for someone to reply.” She and the rest of the team feel a strong level of support and are able to jointly build incredible solutions without having to hire additional talent.
Big leaps with a small team
Priestley Demolition's success with just a small IT team demonstrates that with the right tools and approach, any team can achieve remarkable digital transformation results.
The Priestley Demolition case demonstrates how a traditional industry can embrace digital transformation without requiring extensive IT resources. Through thoughtful implementation and a focus on practical solutions, they've created a more efficient, safer, and more compliant operation — setting a standard for what's possible in the construction and demolition industry.
