Meet the KiSSFLOW Team: Sathish R
November 10th, 2017 • Kissuகிசு
Name: Sathishkumar Ramaswamy
Designation: Assistant Manager
How do you make KiSSFLOW great?
I take care of all the Accounts Payable at OrangeScape. I make sure our teams have access to all the software and tools they need.
What’s the best part about your job?
The appreciation that I get from my colleagues for crediting their salaries at the end of every month :-).
What was the happiest moment of your life?
The day I got married. I fell in love with my wife-to-be in 2002 and we saw each other for seven years before we finally tied the knot. We just celebrated our 8th marriage anniversary last June.
What do you like best about your hometown?
Chennai is very rich in diversity. You can find all kinds of people here. I enjoy my 50-kilometers commute every day because of the interesting things that I see throughout my bike ride.
What is your life motto?
I never think about tomorrow. I just do what I can today. I don’t have any plans for the next five years. I will worry about the future as it comes.
What’s something about you that only a few people in OrangeScape know about?
I am about to complete my MBA in Financial Management this year. It’s a distance learning course from Madras University.
Why did you choose your profession?
I started working as a part-time accountant right after I passed my 12th grade. I then took a full-time accountant job at a garment company in Ambattur. Later, I finished my B.Com and B.Sc in Information Technology. But my actual dream was to become a Chartered Accountant, which never materialized because I failed the entrance tests thrice. So I just stuck to being an accountant.
If you could hire someone to do one thing for you, what would it be?
Maybe having someone to workout on my behalf. (laughs)
What is your guilty pleasure?
I love eating biryani and other junk food despite being diabetic.
What is the best thing you possess?
I’ve a coin that my mom gave me more than 25 years ago. It’s my lucky charm that I wear as a necklet. It has Lord Muruga’s picture engraved on it. I’ve felt very anxious and restless on days when I have misplaced or briefly lost it.
How mischievous were you growing up?
When I was a teenager, our house would have a panchayat (a village council) almost every evening where our neighbors would come up to my parents and complain about me beating one of their kids. Many of these kids used to be bigger and stronger than me. My father was more forgiving of my shenanigans, but I used to get a nice beating from my mom. (laughs aloud)
What is your favorite place after home and work?
A hill station, maybe. Kodaikanal is one of my favorites.
What’s an expert financial advice you would give to your colleagues?
Track your everyday expenses to have a greater control on your finances. I have a habit of manually noting down my day-to-day spending on a notebook after I go home from work.
One thing your colleagues can do to make your life easier:
Please declare your income tax return and any other investment details on time. I say this because every time the HR or Finance team sends out a form for the employees to fill, it takes a long time for everyone to submit their information.
The most recent example I can think of is about collecting data on employee health insurance program; but more than 50% of employees are yet to complete the form. It’s for your own benefit, the company doesn’t stand to gain anything from it.
From the KiSSFLOW Team:
Sathish is most notable for:
His sense of humor. The jokes he cracks keeps us going as a team and can thaw the most tense situations.
What is his signature work with KiSSFLOW?
He worked with a bank to get a line of credit for our company when we were still at a growing stage.
What’s a topic that gets Sathish to talk excitedly?
Food recipes, specifically the ones involving biryani. We have polished off his lunch on many occasions when he started telling us about its ingredients and it just smelled so great that we couldn’t stop ourselves. He also loves talking endlessly about his childhood memories.
What’s a life hack we all can learn from Sathish?
He doesn’t panic under any circumstance, no matter how stressful it is. We call him Mr. Cool for his calm demeanor.
What makes him happy?
He is very much invested in his kids’ upbringing. He helps them with their craftswork and school projects and he talks up a storm about it the next day with us at work.
Naan appove sonna illa? (Translation: Didn’t I already tell you?)
His biggest addictions?
He likes listening to music, especially the ones from 80s Tamil movies. He also likes going on long bike rides.
